This post is sponsored by BarkWorld. However, the opinions expressed here are my own. Just mine. (Unless they’re yours, too.)
In fact, after attending several in the early years of Take Paws, my last one was in 2012. They were fun, but they just didn’t turn out to be good investments of my time and money. The sessions weren’t advancing my skills or inspiring me to take the blog to new levels, and nothing ever came from meeting the sponsors.
So I tuned out … started going to industry trade shows to meet brand representatives, and found different avenues to expand my knowledge and push me to be a better blogger. But all that changed when the agenda for this year’s BarkWorld was published. The speaker list is a who’s-who of successful entrepreneurs, speaking on topics they’ve mastered, and it’s the information I need to make my blog better!
Bryan Kramer, a TED Talk presenter and wildly successful author, will be there sharing his unique perspective on sharing – and how it’s driving our economy. Sunny Lenarduzzi will be teaching tips for leveraging social video to increase brand awareness – strategies she’s implemented to help Hootsuite develop a YouTube series that increased subscriptions by 75% and Applebee’s hit 1 billion impressions in 1 day. Tackling video is my next project, so those are the kinds of tips I’m dying to get!
Peg Fitzpatrick, who co-authored The Art of Social Media: Power Tips for Power Users with Guy Kawasaki, is going to be there – and you can bet I’ll be taking an avalanche of notes in that session! Andy Crestodina, one of Entrepreneur Magazine’s Top 50 Marketing Influencers in 2016 and a Forbes Top 10 Online Marketing Experts to Watch, will be providing insights into the interplay of content strategy, search engine optimization, social media and analytics to help us improve our reach and better connect with our audiences. The list goes on and on … and, with discount code BWVIP99, you get it all for just $99!
BarkWorld has always focused on fostering mutually beneficial relationships between brands and bloggers, and this conference is taking that objective to a whole new level. For an additional $80 you can get the expansion pass, which includes dinner at one of Atlanta’s hippest restaurants with representatives from leading brands in the pet industry!
As if that wasn’t enough, the next day you’ll be part of a group touring CNN Tower and receive one-on-one instruction from a media expert on tricks to becoming an on-camera pro. After a lovely lunch you’ll be transported back to the hotel for an Influencer-to-Brand pitch session, where you’ll have the chance to introduce your marketing ideas to your potential partners. And the cherry on top is that the expansion pass allows you to chat with the speakers and panelists after their sessions for the duration of the conference. You won’t find a networking opportunity like this at any other conference or trade show!
The third thing that BarkWorld offers, and the one that really pushed me over the top, was the list of sponsors. These brands sent representatives to last year’s conference, looking to meet influencers and find ways to work together. I expect the same caliber of sponsors this year, and landing one or two good projects with these companies will pay for my trip, and then some!
The grand finale at BarkWorld is a brand new event, and one that will change the life of one lucky winner! It’s a contest where writers compete for their very own book publishing deal. Submit your idea for a captivating animal-centric book by September 30th, and find out if you’re one of the five finalists who’ll be presenting their pitch on stage to the BarkWorld judges. The winner will be announced right there, and one person will be flying home with a book deal in their suit case!
