Another day another dollar. But when 7 days go by, you get a dogumentary of the week’s news here at GoPetFriendly.
I would like to lead off this week’s news with a plea from fellow pet blogger, DoggyBytes. He is spearheading a campaign to help raise surgery funds for a family’s injured dog. As a testament to DoggyBytes following and the plight of the family, $800 was raised the first day. Please visit the post and make a donation – this really is a case where no amount is too small.
As reported by DancingDogBlog, the city of West Hollywood passed an ordinance that will ban the pet shop sale of pets. This is a wonderful step toward reducing puppy mills and cat farms. The ordinance has captured the interest of other cities in the US and even Europe who are hoping to use the West Hollywood legislation as a blueprint.
And more pet friendly news abounds. The North Carolina Division of Environmental Health held a pubic hearing Tuesday about proposed amendments to a rule regarding pets in restaurants. Currently, pets are not allowed on the premises of restaurants except services dogs. A new rule would allow pets on an outdoor patio if they do not enter the porch area through the dining establishment. Just a couple of weeks ago, GoPetFriendly did its own series on dining at pet friendly restaurants.
And just in case you missed it, Sadie, a Scottish Terrier won “Best in Show” at the 134th annual Westminster Dog Show. Our friends over at Petopia.tv have the video.
