Motel 6 & Studio 6 Announce New Pet Policies

Great news just in time for the holidays! Pack the pup, and let’s go!

Pups in the Suitcase

Motel 6 and Studio 6 have modified their pet policies, as follows:

  • The one pet per room policy has been removed.
  • The weight limit on pets has been lifted.

Because we travel with a 45 pound Shar-Pei and a 65 pound Shepherd, the loosening of these restrictions is wonderful for pet people like us. We also note that Motel 6 does not levy a pet fee, but Studio 6 charges $10 per day – maxing out at $50 per stay.

Motel 6 and Studio 6 hotels have been pet friendly since 1962, and pets are welcome at all of the hotels’ 1,000+ locations in the US and Canada. Standard amenities include free local phone calls, no long distance access charges, free morning coffee, Wi-Fi Internet access, and cable TV. Most locations also feature swimming pools and guest laundry facilities.

So what do you think?  Do you have a pet friendly Motel 6 story you’d like to share?

  • Thanks for your note, Mary! I understand and appreciate your concern. Of course, not every Motel 6 is bad, but people definitely do need to be aware of the issues when making their decisions.

  • Mary Frances says:

Motel6 is repeatedly designated the WORST popular hotel chain in the country based on crime and bedbug reports. Just look up Consumer Affairs

  • It certainly doesn’t sound pet friendly, Patricia! I’d definitely talk to corporate about your experience – they may need to have a chat with the folks in Albany. I hope this experience didn’t tarnish your trip and that you have a great time.

  • I am staying at a motel 6 in Albany , Or. and was told that my cats cannot be in the window because they might get the curtains dirty! Not only that but they said they would charge $300.00 cleaning fee if the cats were on the window! Does this sound pet friendly to you?? Is this something I should report to corporate ??

  • I’m so glad that Motel 6 was able to accommodate you and your dogs, Barbara! Congratulations on your new home, and all the best to you.
