Pet Travel. Made Easy.

Nominations Close at Midnight in 2014 Best City for Pet Travelers Tournament!

Ninety slots have been filled in our Best City for Pet Travelers tournament, leaving just thirty-eight spots open for US and Canadian cities hoping to be nominated.

Cropped Tournament Bracket

Still Hoping For Nominations

Surprisingly, there are oodles of great pet friendly destinations that still haven’t been chosen! Here is a list of super cities that could go far in this year’s tournament … if they get nominated! Pick one of these, or choose your own favorite pet friendly vacation destination, and then sit back and enjoy the tournament with us.

HemisFair Park - San Antonio, TX

Here’s how it works …

  1. You nominate a pet friendly city or town in the US or Canada by email or in the comments section of this post.  (Deadline: March 15, 2014 at 11:59pm Eastern, or when 128 cities have been nominated – whichever comes first.)
  2. Cities will be assigned one per person, on a first-come, first-served basis. Check the list of cities already taken, and then watch for a response notifying you if you’ve gotten the selection you wanted, or if you need to pick an alternate.
  3. The first 128 nominated cities will be matched-up using random selection.
  4. The first round of voting opens on Monday, March 17th and we’ll continue – round by round – until we crown a champion.

Dates to know …

The early rounds of voting usually receive less attention than the later rounds, and many times match-ups are decided by only a few votes. We’ve seen a lot of great pet friendly cities get knocked out in the first or second rounds – so, if you’re looking to take the grand prize this year, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the underdogs in those early match-ups. Here are the dates to keep in mind:

March 17th – Opening Round
March 20th – Round of 64
March 24th – Round of 32
March 27th – Sweet Sixteen
March 31st  – Elite Eight
April 3 – Final Four
April 7th – Championship

The winner will be announced on the blog and by email no later than April 10th, 2014.

  • I’m nominating Salida, CO. Great doggy town! In fact sometimes there are so many friendly dogs in downtown I think it is an actual dog town!

  • Lisa Spector Thanks Lisa! This tournament is always a blast. Of course, I have my personal favorites, and watching them battle it out in the bracket is so much fun for me!

  • – Great to see so many cities listed in your tournament Amy Burkert. Sounds like a fun contest. Best of luck to all.

  • Great suggestion, Lisa! I’m sorry that the nominations for the tournament are already closed – I’m sure it would have done well in the tournament.

  • Isn’t it great to have them with you. I’m in Pitman NJ now and we can bring them in lots of places. They even have fresh water for them outside. I love it.

  • Half Moon Bay, California – my town (south of San Francisco) with fab dog friendly restaurants, hotels, B & B’s, hiking trails, and beaches. And where else do you get to bring your dog into the bank, hardware store, UPS Store, and more?

  • You got it, Jana – good luck!

  • You got it, Pat! I hope it does well in the tournament for you.
