Take A Pet Friendly Ghost Tour
When looking for a pet friendly ghost tour, focus on walking tours conducted exclusively outdoors. These tours are more likely to welcome your furry partner in crime.
There are some tour operators who believe dogs are especially sensitive to the paranormal and will make special accommodations for them. If you find a tour you really want to take, and it involves going inside building or riding on a bus, ask if they’ll allow you to bring your pet in a carrier or stroller.
Plan Ahead
Naturally, October is a very popular month to take a pet friendly ghost tour. Expect to book your place in advance, because few tour operators allow walk-ins. (Those that do are noted below.)
Check the company’s website carefully for information on how to make reservations and where to join the tour. Keep in mind that many tour companies offer non-spooky tours as well, if you have small kids or scaredy cats.
Alabama
Huntsville – Huntsville Ghost Walk
These seasonal ghost walks happen every Friday and Saturday night in September and October. You can choose one of three guided tours through the Twickenham District, the Old Town District, or the Downtown District and leashed dogs are welcome on the walking tours.
Arizona
Bisbee – Old Bisbee Ghost Tour
The Old Bisbee Ghost Tour happens 7 nights a week between October and May and 5 nights a week between June and September. The tours last about ninety minutes and has been joined by dogs, cats, and pigs! The ghost tour is pet friendly, as long as pets are well-behaved and can be carried or are leashed for the duration of the tour. (Only service animals are permitted to join the Ghost Hunts or Haunted Pub Crawls.)
California
Eureka – Old Town Haunted History Tours
Discover the spooky side of Eureka’s history in this two-hour walking tour! Pets are welcome with one limitation: the tour stops at an inn where dogs are allowed inside, but only in the hallways; someone must stay in the hall with the dog when the rest of the tour goes into various hotel rooms.
Los Angeles – LA Ghosts
Explore the scary side of Tiseltown in this hour-long tour that covers just under a mile. Buy your tickets online then meet the group to begin your tour. Pets are welcome but must not disturb the tour.
San Diego – San Diego Ghosts
The San Diego Ghost Tour visits 8-12 different sites around the Gaslamp Quarter for a spooky, tension-filled experience. Tours begin outside the Balboa Theatre. The standard tour lasts an hour or you can take an extended tour for even more chilling history. Pets may join the tour as long as they don’t disturb anyone.
San Francisco – Haunted Haight Walking Tour
This ghost tour lasts two hours and does not include any hills. Well-behaved, leashed pets may join the walk and there are two public parks on the tour.

This 90-minute walking tour departs nightly at 9pm and pets are always welcome. They recommend purchasing your ticket at least ten minutes before the tour beings, but walk-ins are occasionally accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
Salem – Salem Haunted Footsteps Ghost Tours
For more than twenty seasons, Haunted Footsteps walking tours have explored the macabre and spooky side of Salem Massachusetts.
From the tour staff: “Pets are definitely allowed. We enjoy seeing how some of the animals react at different locations and we have had a few incidents that were very spooky. We just ask that if the dog starts barking uncontrollably that you walk him away until he/she settles down and then return. And also that you clean up after your pet.”

Tennessee
Chattanooga – Chattanooga Ghost Tours
Well-behaved pets are welcome on both the tour and the downtown hunt. However, the tour does not end where it starts, and pets other than service animals are not allowed on Chattanooga’s free electric shuttle, which many guests use to return to their cars after the tour. The walk back to the starting point is about 6 blocks.
Also, on the Murder and Mayhem Tour, pets are not allowed in some of the buildings that allow tour guest to come inside.
Reservations made on the website will receive a small discount, and walk-ups will be accepted if there is room.
Note that pets are not allowed on hunts that go into the cemetery.
