Pet friendly travel season 2014 … here we come!
Another lively winter in Austin is drawing to a close, and in just three days we’ll be packing up the motorhome and hitting the road. This will be our fifth year (how is that even possible?) touring the country with Ty and Buster, and we’re just as excited to take off now as we were back in 2010 when we jumped in the RV for our first adventure.
Looking back at us, I’m amazed by how much we’ve changed and learned since then. We’d just sold our house and were high on the adrenaline and excitement of new-found freedom. Of course, there was also the soul-crushing fear that we’d just done something completely insane. With each of us bouncing back and forth from delight to distraught – and usually not at the same time – the early days were thrilling, if a little bumpy.
Preparing to leave this year, it feels like we’re finally starting to figure things out. Slow learners? Maybe. But then, life had changed completely … from getting our mail to agreeing where to sleep each night, there were a lot of details to work out! Forging an entirely new routine doesn’t happen overnight, but the challenges are coming fewer and further between. It seems we’re finding our balance.
Taken to it’s extreme, comfort can lull you into sleepwalking through your life. That’s why people like to shake things up! But, after several years of gradually working our way back from the edge, spending some time on the comfortable side of town has it’s appeal. As much as I’m looking forward to seeing new places and meeting new people, I’m just as excited to see what another year of travel will do for our growth. Each year gives us more confidence and brings new opportunities. 2014 is brimming with possibilities!
Our next destination is Houston, Texas! From there I’ll be catching a flight down to Global Pet Expo for a few days. We haven’t decided which direction we’ll be heading after Houston, so if you have any suggestions, please let us know!
