Dog and LaptopA couple of weeks ago I wrote a post called Bullied by the Blog. It’s about how I sometimes let our self-imposed blogging schedule interfere with the experiences I’m meant to be blogging about. One of the very cool things about blogging is that you get almost instantaneous confirmation that you are not alone. The post struck a cord with Edie, author of the fabulous blog Will My Dog Hate Me?, who took it even further in her post Also Bullied By My Blog.

Edie questioned the bigger issues of why we blog, what we hope to get from our blogs, and – the all important – am I driving the blog, or is it driving me? She also had the brilliant idea of inviting other pet bloggers to get involved! Her post today has additional information.

On January 10th, 2011, Edie, I, and everyone else who would like to participate will be posting answers to the following questions on our blogs:

1. When did you begin your blog?

2. What was your original purpose for starting a blog?

3. Is your current purpose the same?

If not, what’s different?

If so, how do you feel you’ve met your goals?

4. Do you blog on a schedule or as the spirit moves you?

If the former, how often — and what techniques do you use to stick to it?

If the latter, do you worry about… well, whatever you might worry about (e.g. losing traffic, losing momentum)?

5. Are you generating income from your blog?

If so, how (e.g. sponsor ads, affiliate relationships, spokesperson opportunities)?

If not currently, do you hope to in the future — and how?

6. What do you like most about blogging in general and your blog in particular (bragging is good!)?

7. What do you like least?

8. How do you see your blog changing/growing in 2011?

On January 9th at midnight, a linky list will be available for everyone to share their posts.

We hope you’ll join us in reflecting on what we’ve each accomplished on our blogs thus far, and developing a vision for where we’re heading in 2011. It will be a chance to get to know your fellow pet bloggers a bit better and document your own goals for the coming year.
