So far we’ve traveled about 1,300 miles in 8 days. Every good (great) road trip needs a break in the action … an opportunity to stay in one place for a couple of nights, put your paws up on the coffee table, and enjoy home-cooked kibble.
Our road trip included a stopover with family in Newburgh, Indiana just outside of Evansville. Located in Indiana’s southern tip, Newburgh rests on a bend in the Ohio River. In the 1850s, it grew to be one of the largest riverports on the Ohio-Mississippi River between Cincinnati and New Orleans. Today, it is a quaint town that you would describe as “a great place to raise a family.” Each summer, Newburgh hosts a number of festivals including the Fiddler Fest and the Strawberry Festival. Most are held on the shore of the Ohio near the lock and dam in the “antique” section of town.
We stayed a ChuckIt’s throw from the river and found a great path along the water to walk the dogs.
So bear with us while we take a break. When we resume, we’ll be heading to St. Louis.
